But he has a daughter to think about. The least he can do is try because if he is cured he will be around for her, if not he will at least leave a small trust fund for her; The Cowboy who has refused treatment but finds himself wanting to live after meeting a young lady also dying of cancer and going into the experimental treatments.
They have been given some hope and that is the saddest thing of all especially since the cure is almost certain but for a couple of scientist that have their own agenda.
It's already a recipe for disaster when a handful of prisoners, having been given the option of being 'lab rats' for leniency, are scheming of ways to escape.
Once everything begins to fall apart, it does so quickly as they discover something is very wrong with those given the 'cure'. It becomes a comedy of errors as those inside the hospital try to contain the situation with predictable results. Once things get out of hand the bureaucratic machine is a wonder to behold as everyone passes the buck because no one wants the blame for the disaster that is quickly spiraling out of control. Day One is a nightmare of what can happen when people attempt to manipulate science not only for good but for profit, greed and fame.
Or when the unbelievable occurs no one wants to believe until it is far too late. Peter Meredith hit it out of the park with this one.
