Siouxsie And The Banshees* - Nocturne (VHS)

She's all over the stage, dancing madly, rolling on the floor, kicking up her legs and shaking her hands about performing her spooky moves. Costume changes provide an additional treat--her clothes are fantastic! There are a few minor negatives regarding the set list. Three singles Happy House, Slowdive, and Dear Prudence and what I would argue is the best performance of the show Paradise Place were omitted from the release back in , and have not been placed back on the release for this reissue DVD.

I still can't fathom why they would remove the single at the time Dear Prudence. The remaining tracks were re-organized on the original release and were not put back into proper order for the reissue, so the end of the show still appears in the middle of the DVD. Also, isn't it rude to have Happy House playing over the scene selection pages but not in the actual concert!? The extras are hilarious if a bit excessive. Regardless of the minor but interesting set backs, this release is a must have for any banshees fan, and The Cure fan, and any fan of 80s post punk.

That is just amazing to watch and makes me wish more bands had done wacky TV specials like that. It would have been amazing to show some of the "gother than thou" folks in nine inch nails that video a couple decades ago. This video delivers both the main course in the concert, great bonus videos as a side, and the sinfully over the top dessert with the "Play At Home" special. And that's something very few home videos especially from that era manage to do.

At long last, "Nocturne" is available on DVD. Since there is a bit of ambiguity to this release, allow me to answer a few questions: 1- The DVD is an official release from Universal Home Video and in stock. I don't know why Amazon. It's been years since this title has been in print; it documents an important time in the band's career; and it features a guitar player who ended up becoming rather famous There are 27 customer reviews and 28 customer ratings.

  1. Title: Siouxsie and the Banshees: Nocturne. This film sees them performing 12 songs live at the Royal Albert Hall in Playback Region 2:This will not play on most DVD players sold in the U.S., U.S. Territories, Canada, and Bermuda.5/5(1).
  2. Siouxsie and the Banshees is quite possibly one of the greatest bands to exist ever, even through all of their transformations. Their range, and legacy, is astounding, and Nocturne does not even touch base with their later endeavors, like my favorite album, *Tinderbox*, as well as Peepshow (etc)/5(26).

  4. Siouxsie is at her charismatic best, in excellent voice and full Goth regalia, spinning, prancing, and capturing the crowd with inspired performances of some of the best of the band's early 80's material, including Israel, Cascade, Melt, Pulled To Bits, and the Beatles' cover Helter Skelter/10(2).
  5. Aug 15,  · I had seen the VHS of NOCTURNE in like , but it never included the “Play At Home” segment. When someone posted that part online, a few years ago, I was especially taken by videos for The Creatures (“Weathercade”), The Glove, (“A Blues In Drag”), and Siouxsie and The Banshees (“Circle” one of their hidden gems); along w/ Sioux’s little story that now seems like the.

  7. Ya gotta love Siouxsie -- she's a modern rock ICON!! This is a great VHS collection of the best music videos from Siouxsie & The Banshees from about through Although many of their videos from the 80's seem low-budget and rather cheesy by today's standards, you musty remember that this was typical of nearly ALL 80's music videos.5/5(2).
